The Merry Miller, nestled on Cothill Road in Abingdon, is a remarkable British restaurant that has garnered high praise from its patrons. With a warm and inviting atmosphere, it’s perfect for gatherings, as highlighted by Alison Hignell, who lauded the excellent food and attentive service during her father’s wake. The restaurant shines with its renowned carvery, featuring a selection of five delectable meats—lamb, gammon, beef, turkey, and pork—accompanied by an extensive range of sides, including both roast and mashed potatoes, and an unlimited gravy that keeps diners coming back for more, as noted by frequent visitor Dave Roberts.
One of the standout features is the generous portion sizes, celebrated by visitors like DJ DAD, who raved about the impressive Yorkshire pudding and satisfying meals. The friendly service complements the delicious offerings, as Jill Poyton and Zoe Gittins both mentioned the welcoming ambiance and impressive quality of the food, including the crispy belly of pork and mouthwatering calamari. For those seeking a genuine pub experience, the Merry Miller stands out as a delightful destination, which certainly warrants repeat visits. Whether you’re enjoying a cozy dinner by the fire or a festive meal with loved ones, this establishment delivers a solid culinary experience that appeals to all.

Jackie & her team did a fantastic job looking after all our guests fir my Fathers Wake. The food was excellent & plenty of it. It was warm & cosy & we had our own private area, which was nice. Would highly recommend Thanks very much Alison

We have used the Merry Miller many times now, mostly for the amazing Carvery. The food is superb, you are offered and served a choice of 5 meats (lamb, gammon, beef, turkey and pork). You can then proceed to help yourself to an extensive array of stuffing, potatoes (roast & mash), then of course unlimited gravy. We originally booked for 4, but wanted a last minute addition to take us to 5, and Jackie was so helpful getting us to 5 as it gets busy as so popular. Service and experience is the best roast ever, Pie Nights are also tremendous, but always book! This is how a pub should be run to make it successful.

Lovely simple decor with super friendly service and a real surprise for the quality of food. The only time I have belly of pork with more crackling than I could handle!! The calamari starter was lush and enough for two to share.

After all the great long reviews, we had to go try ourselves... yup! It is all true! Proper Sunday Roast! Biggest yorkshire pudding ever! Huge mega portions! Only wished i took 3 or 4 scoops of heavenly gravy and not 2! Proper big tea pot with big mugs!! Food is satisfying and hot! Only the seating is tight on the table we were given, the mismatch chairs too wide for the table, making getting in and out hard work, should use narrower simple lighter chairs.

Ordered 2 roast dinners from the Merry Miller. Food was delicious! Plenty of fresh vegetables, gravy and a lovely Yorkshire pudding to mop up the gravy. Fully recommend this Sunday takeaway dinner

Nice pub with good food. I guess it is a little hard to reach but worth a visit. The Sunday roast buffet looked very tempting but went for the burger which was very very good. Prices are also reasonable and we have been served very quickly. Kids were also happy since there was a games corner with plenty of board games to chose from.

Really loved their Sunday lunch carvery, five meat choices and several (8) vegetable sides to choose from. The food line shuts for 15 minutes every two hours so they can clean it down and put fresh food out, I wish bigger carveries would do that. The food was very tasty, I had lamb, my husband had beef and gammon and the there was an huge choice of veg. The Yorkshire puddings were delicious and homemade. We shared the cheese board afterwards which was definitely big enough for 2 and included a glass of port. The total cost for the food was 56. We're definitely going again and hopefully during the week too as they do various themed evenings we want to try. They run an a la carte menu at the same time too which also looks lovely. The interior of the pub was very comfortable and there were several tables in the garden
